     We hope the following information will ensure a smooth transition as your child enters Meridiana Elementary!

    Change Of Clothes:

    •At times little ones do not make it to the restroom in time, & any student can spill lunch or have a bloody nose. 

    •Please place a change of clothes in a plastic bag with your child's name on it in his/her backpack at all times.


    •Alvin ISD personnel are not permitted to give medication of any kind, unless the parent signs the Medication Form and brings the medication & form back to the clinic.
    •All medications must be brought to the clinic by the parent or other adult.
    •Prescription medication must be in the original container with a prescription label on it.
    •Non prescription medication needed for longer than ten days must have a written request from a physician.
    •No vitamins, health food or herbal preparations will be given by any school employee.
    •Children are not allowed to carry medication on them unless they have written permission from a physician.

    •Your child will be sent home if he/she has  a fever of 100 degrees or higher, is vomiting or has diarrhea. Your child  may return to school once he/she has been fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.

    •Pain and/or swelling at angle of jaw (pain in or behind the ear that is aggravated by chewing, swallowing, or opening the mouth)

    •Red eye with purulent discharge or crusting

    •Scaly patches on scalp (possible ringworm)

    •Intense itching with evidence of open lesions or signs and symptoms of secondary infection

    •Signs of jaundice

    •Acute febrile illness, prodromal systemic symptoms with rash

    •Open, draining lesions


    • Head Lice (all nits must be removed before returning to school)
    •Please keep your child home if he/she has fever, vomiting, diarrhea or any contagious disease. Please inform the nurse of such occurrences.

    •It is of up most importance that we have the correct contact information to reach you in the event of an emergency with your child during school hours. •Should contact information change during the school year please inform the nurse or registrar.     •You can always fax, e-mail, mail or drop off your child's immunization information.
    Health Concerns/Medical Conditions:
    •If your child has a chronic disease, severe allergies, asthma or seizures please contact the Nurse prior to the start of school.
    •Any paperwork that is needed prior to starting school for health concerns or medical conditions can be found and printed from our clinic website. Please complete and return to the clinic on or before the first day of school.
