    High School Science Highlights
     
     
    New Streamlined TEKS officially go into effect in 2018-2019. Our district is converting to the new streamlined TEKS this year for IPC, Chemistry, and Physics. The Biology TEKS that were adopted in 2010-2011 will continue to be taught in the 2017-2018 school year. 
     
     
    Upcoming Dates for District Tests
    • Week of October 8th: Curriculum Based Assessment for Biology, Pre-AP Biology, and IPC
    • Week of December 17th: Midterm exams for Biology, Pre-AP Biology, Chemistry, Pre-AP Chemistry, IPC, and Physics
    • Week of March 18th: Curriculum Based Assessment for Biology, Pre-AP Biology, Chemistry, Pre-AP Chemistry, IPC, and Physics
     
    STEM Fair
    The STEM Fair provides students an opportunity to showcase their independent investigations or engineering designs in science. The district STEM Fair will take place on Thursday, February 7, 2019, in the gymnasium at Alvin Community College. The public is welcome to view projects from 1:30 - 6:30 PM; the award ceremony will begin at 6:30 PM. Students interested in participating in the STEM Fair need to complete the necessary paperwork; click on the link for the guidelines.
     
     
    Tutoring 
     
    Each high school campus provides tutoring for the students of Alvin ISD. If your child needs additional support in their science coursework, contact your child's science teacher for the campus tutoring schedule.
     
    Online Textbooks 
     
    Biology and IPC students may access their science textbook online at https://connected.mcgraw-hill.com/connected/login.do . Students need to replace their individual information in the ( ).

    Physics students may access their science textbook online at  http://www.essential-physics.com/EP/stateselect. Click on the state of Texas and when asked to select curriculum, click on Texas. The code to access your online book will be given to you by your teacher.
     
    Chemistry and Environmental Systems students may access their science textbook online at https://my.hrw.com . Teachers can provide you with your user name and password. In most cases, the information below will allow students to access the textbook. Students need to replace their individual information in the ( ).
