    Course Description: Spanish 1A is the first half of an introductory course to the basic sounds and structure of Spanish language, including pronunciation, phonetics, grammatical concepts, verbs, most common and basic vocabulary, and an introduction to the Spanish culture. Spanish IA may be taken as part of a two-year Spanish I program resulting in one high school credit. Spanish IB will be offered to eighth graders who successfully complete Spanish IA with at least 70% mastery.

    In order to optimize your learning experience, the following guidelines must be adhered to in establishing a positive learning environment:


    Classroom Rules:

    ü  Be prepared.

    ü  Be on time.

    ü  Be respectful.

    ü  Be responsible.



    First offense: Verbal warning.

    Second offense: Call home to parents and 15 min detention.

    Third offense:  30 minute detention. Call home to parents, conference requested.

                Fourth offense:  Student/parent/teacher conference
     BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Policy: According to Alvin I.S.D. policy, students are permitted to bring technology device to use in class (laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc.) for educational purposes. The policy also states that if a student is caught with his or her device, it will be taken by the teacher and turned in to the office. Students will then have to pay the front office $15.00 (fifteen dollars) to get their devices back.
