Ms. Melanie Lynn Hubenak
Hello & Welcome to Rodeo Palms Junior High School!
Home of the Razorback Dancers!
Ms. Hubenak was born and raised in Houston, TX but her heritage is CZECHOSLOVAKIAN! If you like kolaches, you are already familiar with one of her cultural foods!
My dance journey started dance at a dance studio as a young girl. I was extremely shy and suffered from anxiety as an elementary student. It was recommended that I participate in an extracurricular activity. Dance was the first thing I tried. After my first class, it became my passion and life. Dance helped with social skills, confidence, and served as a positive outlet throughout all my school years.
Dance styles I've been trained in vary from Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acrobatics, Hip Hop, Modern/Lyrical/Contemporary, Musical Theater, Improvisation, World/Cultural, Choreography, Dance Team!
It was dancing on my High School Drill team is when I decided to continue my path in teaching, choreographing, and "Dance" as my college major. I continued to pursue my dreams attending San Jacinto Dance Program and Lamar University in Beaumont, TX receiving my Bachelors' in Dance...GO LU! The opportunities I was given to judge dance competitions, choreograph and teach all around the Texas areas was an amazing journey to grow and build my once hobby but now career. I've had the honor to work at many dance studios competition teams, and High Schools around Texas as a teacher, assistant director, director, judge, manager, and choreographer.
I have 2 boys, Ethan & Dylan. Both of them will be attending Don Jeter Elementary as a 5th grader and Kindergartner. Although our commute is far, it is worth being apart of such an amazing school district.
This will be my 3rd year serving as the Rodeo Palms Junior High Dance Director in AISD for all the dance classes. I'm looking forward to this 2021-2022 school year!
I love my dancers as my own children and hold them to high expectations as a student, dancer, a role model, and representative of the dance program & myself.
In Dance class, We do and learn ALL DIFFERENT types of dance, listen to various styles of music , learn the history of these dance genres all to
"Appreciate the Art of Dance" and the amazing cultures they derived from.
*The dancers' also have the privilege of performing in multiple ways such as, School Pep Rally's, High School football games, Fall Dance Dimensions, Manvel HS Dance Team Spring Shows, and hopefully many more!
