Marek Mission Statement
Established June 17, 2004

The mission of Mary Burks Marek Elementary, in collaboration with the community, is to lay a foundation for lifelong learning by providing each child challenging learning experiences in a secure and nurturing atmosphere.

  • Enrollment for next year, 2013-2014, information is below:

    • Enrollment for new students for 2013-2014 will begin June 10, 2013 for all students at the Marek office from 8:00-4:00p.m.
    • Kindergarten Round-Up for the 2013-2014 school year will be @ Marek @ May 6th-10th.
    • Pre-Kindergarten Round-Up for the 2013-2014 school year will be August 6th-9th.

    2013 Credit by Examination:

     Students wishing to accelerate a grade level in elementary may take a Credit by Examination (CBE) provided they have not received prior instruction in that grade level or course.  All CBE applications must be returned to the campus before the end of school day, April 26, 2013.. For students taking the Kindergarten acceleration tests, a May, June or July session may be requested. For students taking grades 1-12, June 10-13 or July 8-11 are offered. If you have questions concerning testing, you can contact the district assessment office at 281-245-2450. A copy of the brochure can be accessed here.

Quick Facts

Mary Burks Marek Elementary opened her doors to students for the first time on August 10, 2004. It was the first school to open in Shadow Creek Ranch. Marek is home to a very diverse population of Pre-K through fifth-graders. We are proud to have such diversity in our communtiy with over thirty different languages represented. Marek has been very pleased with all of their students' success; they were named a 2005 and 2007 Recognized campus, and a 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 Exemplary campus.
