Thank you for your support and for taking time to visit our webpage as we want to share all of our Marlin news and accomplishments with you.  Please be sure to visit our site often, as we will continue to update it with district and campus news, events, and give you a glimpse into the life of our Marlins.  Our teacher pages should all have contact and class information for you at this time, but we will continue to improve our site as we strive to make it as user-friendly as possible.  Please enjoy your visit and feel free to contact us with any questions that you may have.  Our doors are always open to you, and we welcome you as a part of our Marlin team!
 
 Mary Marek Elemenatary:
Mary Burks Marek Elementary opened her doors to students for the first time on August 10, 2004. It was the first school to open in Shadow Creek Ranch. Marek is home to a very diverse population of Pre-K through fifth-graders. We are proud to have such diversity in our communtiy with over thirty different languages represented. Marek has been very pleased with all of their students' success; they were named a 2005 and 2007 Recognized campus, and a 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 Exemplary campus.

  • Please be aware of the adjustment in meal pricing for the 2015-16 school year. Remember, you must reapply to receive free/reduced meals each year.  Please find more information by visiting the Child Nutrition section at www.alvinisd.net.

  • Class placement postcards were sent out yesterday. However, we will be open from 3-6:30 pm (8/19), to give you your child's class placement if you do not receive the postcard today.

  • New Parent Orientation is tomorrow night (8/20) beginning at 4:45...
    • If you are the parent of a new Kindergarten student, please drop-off your student in the music room with specials teachers  (the gym is closed for repairs), and report to the library.
    • If you are the parent of a new 1st - 5th grade student, please drop-off your student in the music room with the specials teachers, and report to the cafeteria.

  • The morning drop – off procedure will mirror the afternoon dismissal procedure. There will be two lanes for cars to drop-off students, one at the back (where 2-5 grade students dismiss), and one at the front (normal drop-off location). A traffic director will be at the fork near the back crosswalk to direct you to the shortest lane. Students will then enter from the kinder hallway or the front office area. Pre-K –1st will go to the cafeteria and 2-5 will go to the gym and remain there until their teachers pick them up at 7:45. There will be teachers stationed along the hallways to direct students to their waiting areas. Instruction will begin at 8:00 am, so please make every effort to have your students here before 7:45. The school doors will still open at 7:15 each day and the cafeteria will be open from 7:15-7:45. Breakfast will not be served after this point. If your child eats breakfast in the cafeteria, they will need to be at school by 7:25 at the latest to assure they can have time to finish breakfast before their teacher comes to pick up their class.

  • Due to the number of students we have enrolled this year, we must limit the number of days parents can eat lunch with their child in the cafeteria. Please adhere to the following schedule for the day your child’s grade level may have parents join them for lunch.

    PK and 5th grade – Monday

    Kindergarten – Tuesday

    First grade - Wednesday

    Second grade - Thursday
     
    Third and Fourth grade - Friday

    Thank you for your patience and understanding this year as our numbers continue to grow, and we welcome more students to Marek.

    To all Dads, Granddads, Uncles, and Dudes!!!  The 2014/15 school year is going to be AWESOME!  The faculty, staff, and PTO at Mary Marek Elementary have worked tirelessly to plan and organize a productive school year.  One that will both stimulate and challenge our students.  Gentlemen, now it’s our time to support the PTO by actively engaging in our students school experience.  Join the Marlin Men and participate at recess, morning/afternoon duty, and any time that fits your schedule.  LET”S INVEST IN OUR CHILDREN!!!
