Our Library Mission

Welcome to Harby Jr. High's Library & Technology Center. Our library welcomes all students, staff, and parents to check out books and materials.    Our mission is to efficiently provide curriculum and instructional support to staff and students. We want to encourage our students to become lifelong readers. At our library students have the opportunity to utilize all the information and technology available to enhance opportunities for personal success in an increasingly complex world.

About Our Library

Library hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students are welcome throughout the school day and after school to browse, checkout, study, or research.   Students may checkout up to two books at a time for two weeks. Magazines are limited to one at a time. Overdue notices are distributed during the library class visit accordingly.  Students are not allowed to check materials until overdue books are returned. Students are expected to treat the library and its contents with care and return library materials promptly so others may use them.

Computers are available to students for educational use only. Chat rooms and personal e-mail are forbidden. To use the internet, students must have their teacher's permission and the Acceptable Use Policy signed by their parent and turned into the office. Students must ask permission before printing any Internet documents.

*Computers and Circulation Desk shutdown 10 minutes prior to closing.

    New Study Available

"Students who score higher on tests tend to come from schools which have more library resource staff and more books, periodicals and videos, and where the instructional role of the media specialist and involvement in cooperative program planning and teaching is more prominent."
