American Express presented a check for $16,000 to the Alvin Independent School District Education Foundation at the May school board meeting. The funding for the donation is through the American Express @ Work program, which enlists vendors throughout the nation to give back to non-profit organizations through use of the American Express credit card. American Express gave one-percent of the points the district had earned and presented it to the foundation. Alvin ISD Education Foundation Coordinator Melinda Purcell and Board member Sheila Olson accepted the check from American Express Corporate Services representative Terri Trahan.
