Head Football Coach / Assistant Athletic Director
Kirk Martin is the Manvel Mavericks’ head football coach and an assistant athletic director for Alvin ISD. Coach Martin is in his 24th year of coaching. He was raised in Quitaque, a small west Texas town. He played football, basketball and ran track at Valley High School, where he was named to the all-state football and all-South Plains basketball teams. Coach Martin played tight end and was a four-year letterman at the University of Texas at El Paso. He received a Masters in Education Administration from Sul Ross State University. He has enjoyed stints at El Paso Cathedral, EP Riverside, Alvin, Odessa Permian, Giddings and Alpine before opening Manvel High School in 2006. Coach Martin is married to Caren, a pre-K teacher at Red Duke Elementary. They have three children: Koda Kirk (21), an offensive lineman at Texas A&M; Cory Jo (19), a volleyball player at Lubbock Christian University; and Kason James (16), a junior football player at MHS. Coach Martin and family attend New Hope Church where they work in the food service ministry. In his free time, Coach Martin enjoys watching college football, playing golf, and visiting family in Lubbock and Ruidoso.
Gerald “Flash” Burns begins his 24th year of teaching and coaching - his eleventh at MHS. He has been married for 17 years to Ashley, a counselor at Shadow Creek High School. The couple has two sons: Beau (14), who is a freshmen football player at Manvel High School, and Garrison (11). Coach Burns graduated from Texas Tech University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sport Science, with a minor in History. Coach Burns is the Mavericks’ Assistant Head Coach and Head Powerlifting coach. He also coordinates the MHS strength and conditioning program and assists with the Manvel Junior High program. Coach Burns attends New Hope Church and enjoys riding his motorcycle, working out and spending time with family and friends.
Kendrick Crumedy is the running backs coach and the head boy's track coach. He is in his 7th year of teaching at Manvel High School. Coach Crumedy teaches Government. He graduated from Sam Houston State University in May of 2008 with a degree in History and Secondary Education, and then again in 2010 with a Master's degree in Kinesiology - Sport Management emphasis. Coach Crumedy is engaged to Kimberly Montgomery. He is originally from Jasper, Texas and enjoys fishing, horseback riding and working out in his spare time.
Lucas Saucedo is entering his 7th year of teaching and coaching at MHS. He teaches AP Macroeconomics and is also a varsity assistant baseball coach. Coach Saucedo is a graduate of El Campo HS where he lettered in football, baseball, and track. Coach Saucedo went on to play baseball at the University of Incarnate Word before graduating from the University of Houston system. He went on to receive his Masters of Science in Sport Management from Texas A&M University. Coach Saucedo is married to Dana, a second grade dual language teacher at Wilder Elementary. The couple has two children: Aden (9) and Natalie (5). Coach Saucedo and his family attend St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Pearland and enjoy spending time outdoors and attending sporting events.
Gregory Bennett is entering his 17th year of teaching and coaching, but his 7th year as the receivers coach at MHS. He is a native of Miami, Fla., and attended Miami Edison HS, where he was a quarterback and receiver on the football team; he also played basketball. He was a USA Today and Parade All-American. Coach Bennett received a Football scholarship to University of Louisville. Coach Bennett graduated from Prairie View A&M with a Master’s degree in Education. Coach Bennett has three boys: Ashton (22), Austin (20) who plays football for Oklahoma, and Arik (16) who plays football at Manvel. During his free time, Coach Bennett likes to golf, fish and hunt.
Freshman Football / Head Softball
Skipper Dunham is entering his 1st year in Alvin ISD and Manvel High School and 7th year as a teacher and Coach. Coach Dunham went to Texas State University where he received his degree in Exercise Sports Science and has recently completed his Masters in Educational Leadership from Lamar University. He is married Laura Dunham, a CTE teacher at Pearland High School. He has 2 sons: Wake (5) and Pace (9 months). Coach Dunham likes to hunt, golf, and spend time with family and friends in his free time.
Dewan Edmonson is beginning his 10th year in Alvin ISD – his 9th as the outside linebacker coach at MHS. Coach Edmonson was born in Houston and played football and baseball at Clements High School in Sugar Land, Texas. Coach Edmonson earned a baseball scholarship to Lee College and graduated from University of Houston Clear Lake with a bachelor’s degree in fitness and human performance. Coach Edmonson is married to LaGenia, an assistant principal at Harby Junior High in Alvin ISD. The couple has three beautiful children: Ansley (26) who is an Engineer for Williams, Dewan Jr. (21) who plays football for Abilene Christian University and Jaden (12) who attends Manvel Jr. High. Coach Edmonson worships at Lakewood Church in Houston and enjoys doing things with his family and fishing in his spare time.
Cameron Herzog began his coaching at Manvel High School and is in his 7th year of coaching. Coach Herzog is a Geometry teacher. Coach Herzog, an Alvin, Texas native, graduated from The University of Texas at Austin. He is married to his beautiful wife, Nydia, who is a biology and aquatic science teacher at Manvel High School and they have 4 children; David, Zoe, Penelope and Jude. David is a junior at Manvel High School and Zoe plays club soccer. The Herzog family has 2 dogs; a golden doodle named Chance and a catahoula mix named Odin. Coach Herzog enjoys spending time with his family, watching movies, hunting and attending sporting events. The Herzog family attends New Hope Church.
David Jones is in his 14th year of teaching and coaching - his 9th with Alvin ISD and 4th year at MHS. He has been married for 19 years to Dianna Jones, who is a PE teacher and is the Head Girl's Track Coach at MHS. The couple has two sons: David (26) Sales Manager with ABC Supply in Dallas and Lance (17), a junior, at Manvel High School. Coach Jones graduated from U.M.H.B., where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sport Science, with a minor in History. Coach Jones is the Mavericks’ Offensive Line coach and assistant Golf coach. Coach Jones attends New Hope Church and enjoys Fishing/Hunting and spending time with family and friends.
Steven McFadden is entering his 4th year in Alvin ISD and his 1st year at MHS. Coach McFadden went to Wheatley HS in Houston where he lettered in football, basketball, track and golf. During his time at Wheatley he became a Blue chip All American which led him to receiving a football scholarship to Texas Tech where he went on to play offensive tackle. He recently received his Masters of Science in Education with a specialization of Technology integration within the classroom. Coach McFadden is married to Ginger, an art teacher at Alvin Junior High. The couple has two daughters: Ava (11) and Chloe (6). Coach McFadden and his family attend Second Baptist South Campus and enjoy attending all types of athletic events and visiting museums.
Brian Robinson is in his 9th year of coaching and his 3rd year at Manvel. Coach Robinson played for University of Houston. He is married to Angie and they have two boys, Champ and Chief. He enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends.
Freshman Football / Varsity Assistant BaseballCoach Rogers is in his first year on campus as a teacher/coach, but has been coaching and assisting with the Mavericks for the past 3 seasons. A Dobie High School graduate Coach Rogers earned a Bachelors degree from Sam Houston State University. He is married to Corinne Rogers and has a daughter Renee, son Kyle and a grandson Cooper. Coach Rogers’ son, Kyle, is currently playing baseball at Panola College. Coach Rogers enjoys spending time with his family, and attends Sagemont Church.
Freshman Football / Kickers and Punters / Assistant Soccer Coach
Coach Venetoulias is in his first year as a teacher and coach. He is coming from the oil and gas industry where he spent over 20 years in the trade. He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Texas A&M University where he also lettered four years in football and was a three-time All-Southwest Conference selection and an All-American selection as a Kicker. He is married to his lovely wife Lori and they have one son, Eli who is eight years old. Coach still plays soccer at a competitive level and enjoys spending time with his family, fishing and being outdoors.
Coach White is entering his 19th year as an educator. He spent 16 years as a math teacher/coach and 2 years as an Assistant Principal. Coach White is a native of Miami, Fl, where he attended Miami Carol City Sr. High School. After high school, he attended Texas Southern University on a football scholarship. While attending Texas Southern, Coach White was a 4 year starter and named All Conference for 2 years. Carnell also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology from TSU. Coach White earned a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Coach White is married to his lovely wife Constance, who is an Assistant Principal at Stewart Elementary in Hitchcock ISD. They have 4 children; Carmen, Carnell III, Carson, and Carissa. Coach White is a Deacon at The Carpenter’s House in La Marque, TX and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Coach White loves spending time with his family, loves to travel, cook, and attend sporting events.
