Welcome

Melba Passmore Elementary welcomes you!
Portrait of Mrs. Passmore
Our school is named in honor of Melba Lindberg Passmore, who taught in public school education for 42 years, 33 in Alvin.  She began her teaching career in Edna, Texas before moving to Red Bluff, Texas to serve as principal and teacher.  In 1948, Mrs. Passmore moved to Alvin and began her long tenure as a fourth grade, fifth grade and remedial reading teacher at Alvin Elementary School.  While a teacher at Alvin Elementary, Mrs. Passmore earned a  Master's in Education and was honored as the 1980-81 Alvin I.S.D. Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Passmore retired from teaching in 1982, but she continued to serve her community by ministering to the people.
Passmore Elementary will always carry the spirit of Melba Lindberg Passmore, a lady who made her life's work teaching and caring for others.
