Hello and welcome to the ADAPT Center where change begins. I am Dr. Donald Brown the ADAPT center's building principal. I am a product of Alvin ISD and am excited about this opportunity to serve you and our district’s student body.
As one of the leading researchers on alternative school reform, my team and I understand what it takes to make a difference in the lives of the students we serve. My staff and I are equipped with the tools necessary to create opportunities for students to breakthrough barriers and become productive citizens in society. Our motto at the ADAPT Center is “Soaring to Excellence” and we operate under the belief that every student can be successful. Helping students breakthrough barriers is not just something we say it is what we believe!
At the ADAPT Center, we focus on educating the whole child, improving student reflective thinking processes, challenging our students physically, emotionally and mentally as means to further instill a high sense of efficacy in each student we serve. Through the best practices that are implemented and executed daily, students will gain a clear understanding of how to remain focused in the mist of distraction. Students will also discover the true meaning of having the right to be a student and having the right to learn. Through service to our community students will have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others, without expecting anything in return. Here at the ADAPT Center, we believe in change.

Dr. Donald Ray Brown, Jr. building on the prior work of Mr. Mark Scharenbroich’s Poem “I AM Creed”
I am more than a conqueror and I am unique in the world
I am everything that I believe myself to be
I am capable of learning and growing daily
I am the breath that life breathes and I appreciate the differences in others
I am successful as a result of my actions and, I am unlike any human being
I am accountable to my future’s “future” and I am a dreamer
I am mighty, bold, fearless, humble, grateful and willing to make a positive impact on the world we live in today
And now you know my CREED,
Feel my Actions…Now…Hear my voice,
I AM NOT WHAT I USE TO BE
I AM BETTER
